Who could be in Aces and Eights

Fantasy booking time!! For this column I’m going to be looking at TNA’s upcoming faction Aces and Eights.  I’m going to put 6 wrestlers into Aces and Eights with two main rules – they can’t currently be under contract to WWE or TNA and secondly they are wrestlers who could make an impact in TNA.  If this group comes together in the below format with the wrestlers listed then I will donate $1,000 to the WWF – fact.

The Leader : Goldberg

Goldberg is an instant draw, simple as that.  For Aces and Eights to come over as a legit group, you need a strong leader who has a firm foundation.  Goldberg quite simply ticks all the boxes.  Working the light TNA schedule would be good for Goldberg and would be beneficial to the company.  He would help spice up the TNA Heavyweight division, adding a legit wrecking ball that the company needs.  Also, with the wealth of experience that Goldberg has, he could be invaluable on the experience side of the company.

The Tag Team specialists : Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin

The Worlds Greatest Tag Team are easily that.  Haas and Benjamin have travelled, wrestled and teamed all over the planet and would beef up the Tag Team divison in TNA quite well.  Haas is a legit mat wrestler and Benjamin is one of the most athletic tag team wrestlers since Jeff Hardy.  These two can work both as a face and heel well and can work the crowd really well.  These two could easily help spice things up.

The Manager : Nigel McGuinness

Nigel McGuinness can work on commentary, work as a manager, hell anything which involves a microphone.  He has a brute honest sense of delivering a promo.  He could be a mouthpiece for the wrestlers, he could help get the wrestlers over, he could be a perfect heel manager.  Also, the English accent helps a LOT for delivering a heel promo – William Regal anyone?

The Second Belt-man : Montel Vontavious Porter

I can’t believe that MVP hasn’t been picked up by TNA or WWE yet.  He is a great wrestler, worker of the crowd, is over with the fans and can do pretty much anything.  He can work as a heel easily (as seen by the MVP – Matt Hardy feud), enjoys wrestling and can bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the ring.  His time spent in NJPW has helped him even more, both in ring and out of ring, which makes him an easy choice for Aces and Eights.

The Female wrestler : Awesome Kong

OK, so maybe with this one I may have cheated a little bit – she has worked for both TNA and WWE and has left both organisation, which technically makes her a free wrestler.  She can dominate the ring, dominate both male and female wrestlers and adds something different to a group other than the traditional good looking female manager, adding to the Aces and Eights background.

Closing thoughts

Will this group come together as Aces and Eights? I highly doubt it, massively.  If it did, it would be a hell of a coup for TNA and would generate a LOT of interest in the product again.  After the stalled interest of Hogan signing and going live on a Monday night, this could be the rebirth of a TNA push.  Who knows what will happen but with Aces and Eights, TNA have the legit second coming of the New World Order, and we all know what happened to WCW when that happened.

WWE Raw : Live Review and Thoughts 20/8/2012

So, the post SummerSlam show of Raw is here, and if you didnt get chance to watch SummerSlam, you can find out what happened here.

We kick off the show with Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman making their way to the ring.  Heyman puts over the fact that Lesnar broke Hunter last night and forced him to tap out and quit.  Heyman called out the ref from last night and as you can imagine, the ref comes down very gingerly. Heyman says Brock has something to say the ref and Brock says “Good job” to the ref.  Heyman puts Lesnar over again, calling him the King of Kings and the conquerer of the WWE Universe and that everyone looks up to Brock Lesnar now.
