The current state of the WWE Tag Team division is not a pretty sight. There are a few banded together teams that are being pushed / attempted to be pushed, but there is an entire roster of talent that could be utilised to help give the Tag Team division the shot in its arm that is so desperately needed. So, with that in mind, I’m going to give you 5 Tag Teams that could be put together to make the division a little more interesting. And I’ll apologise for some of their names now as well!
Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara – The High Flyers
This one is quite easily decided upon. Sin Cara is fading away as a singles character; maybe he doesn’t fit the WWE style of wrestling yet, maybe he misses his trampoline, who knows. What he needs is some time proving his worth to both the crowds and more importantly to himself. Working in a tag team with Mysterio, they could be quite easily the most entertaining tag team around for a while. Mysterio can help put over Sin Cara, whilst he goes up in stature and confidence. Who knows, if all goes to plan they could even break up the tag team with a Mysterio – Sin Cara feud – now that would be ratings.
Big Show and Ezekiel Jackson – Power House
I feel sorry for big Ezekiel. He’s held the IC Title, was the last ‘ECW’ champion, was a member of The Corre and, at times, has had a lot going for him. Then, for one reason or another, his push gets stopped. Big Show on the other hand has had it all – US Title, Pay Per View main events, Tag Team Champion, the works. Putting these two together as an indestructible heel tag team would give other teams a reason to fear and a reason for the fans to watch. They could quite easily dominate the division and have success, which can only but help Ezekiel.
Ryback and Santino Marella – Rymarella
OK, here me out on this one as it will take some explaining. Ryback is being billed as a wrecking machine, not heel nor face at the moment, but has had very little / no mic work. Santino on the other hand, is one of the best mic workers the company currently has. Putting the pair of them together could make for some funny backstage promos, could help Santino come over as a slightly more wrestling wrestler and help Ryback further his mic skills. They could quite easily be billed as The Odd Couple as they have two very different styles. Plus, at the end of their run we could see Ryback destroy Santino and move onto solidify himself in the mid card!
Tensai and Yoshi Tatsu – Dow Jones
The chances of this one happening are about as likely as Goldberg spearing Mae Young into a novelty sized bottle of JR’s BBQ sauce. However, it would work – Tensai with his “heritage” and Yoshi Tatsu being legit without needing the “s for heritage. It could work really well and Yoshi as a heel could be quite fun to watch as well. Like Rymarella, you’d have one power house wrestler and one more quick and nimble wrestler and they complement could each other really well. So long as someone stops Tensai going on Tout.
Tamina and Natalya – Technical Perfection
I know, shock and horror, I’ve booked a female tag team. This is simply due to one reason : NXT. Yes, it has had a bad press in the past, but whilst waiting for Raw to start, I’ve watched quite a few of the Divas coming up through NXT and I’ve gotta admit I’m impressed. So much so that within 2 years I’m predicting Diva Tag Titles. Well, I did say I was dreaming didn’t I? Anyway, with these two Divas you have the solid basis of a division. I could have easily paired up Natalya with Beth Phoenix, but that’s happened in the past, and this is about the new! With the Snuka DNA and having a legendary Uncle, these two could go on to greatest quite easily.
